Do you find it harder to roll out of bed these days? Do you feel sluggish and tired all the time? Well, you are not alone.
Lately, I have found ways to manage my mood and pull myself out of the rut. And thank goodness I did! This is why I have decided to share with you five ways to get out of the winter rut. Let's get onto it!
1. LET THE LIGHT IN
As days are shorter, our sleep and waking cycles may become disrupted. The lack of sunlight means your brain produces more of a hormone called melatonin, which makes you sleepy.
Open curtains and blinds as soon as you wake up to invite some sunshine into your space.
2. GET REGULAR EXERCISE
Yes, working out may be the last thing that you want to do when it's cold and dark. But you may be surprised how energetic you could feel after physical activities. If you find it hard to exercise outdoors, this is the perfect time to head into our warm and cozy studio for a class.
In wintery months, I'd recommend classes like Mat Pilates, Slow Flow and Power Flow, which will get your heart pumping and blood flowing.
3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH HIGH VIBE PEOPLE
There is a saying "you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with". So, make sure you surround yourself with people who inspire you, lift you up and reflect the energy you wish to embody. Stay away from the energy vampires, be brave to say no to them.
4. TAP INTO POWER OF MUSIC
This is my go-to whenever I need a quick shift of energy. Music is incredibly powerful to shift your energy. It has the power to awaken senses and emotions. So, create a playlist with your favourite songs!
If you need some inspiration, here is my Happiness Playlist on Spotify.
5. DO SOMETHING FUN!
When you’re feeling down, fun activities can boost your mood, get your mind off whatever that is distressing you and help you build up some momentum.
We have just the perfect fun activity for you: ECSTATIC DANCE on Friday, the 13 August 7:30pm to 9pm. Come join our very first Friday night dance party at Yoga Cave!
No dance experience necessary, this session is all about being playful and exploring our inner child. We'll keep the moves simple and easy to follow along.
